It's That Time Again!!
Yes, it is 2009 Tournament Time!! The Tournament Page has been updated to show the brackets, but also has the International Tournament Rules and 7-8 Year Old Tournament rules.
Please remember...the 7-8 Year Old Tournament is NOT a part of the Little League International Tournament. The only thing that Waco or Williamsport has to do with the 7-8 Year Old Tournament is that they grant us permission to hold it every year. If people start calling Little League with questions/concerns/complaints about this tournament, Waco has the option to not approve the Special Games application ever again, and the 7-8 Year Old tounament will no longer exist. This tournament MUST be played by Regular Season rules (with a few excepions that were approved) and not any of the Tournament Rules listed in the 2009 Little League Rules and Regulations.
Also remember that this one was started as a "little, fun tournament", just to give the future All-Stars just a taste of visiting other baseball fields and playing different leagues.
Any questions or problems with the 7-8 Year Old Tournament need to be addressed to myself or the Assistant District Administrators.
A Small Change in the 7-8 Year Old Rules
We will be using Option 1 of Regulation VI(c) for the 7-8 Year Old Tournament. The rules that are posted now include that change.
A Word About the Brackets
You might notice that the 9-10 and Little League divison Championship Rounds are not seeded. Before I explain, a little history first; in the past, these two tournaments were made up of four 4-team pools, so the Championship Rounds were always seeded with the first game being a "cross-over" game. Well, we are down to three pools now, so that means that there will be six teams going to the Championship Round. There is no "fair" way to seed this type of approved single-elimination tournament, since there would be two first round BYES. To keep a team from doing something that would improve their seeding in the Championship Round, it will remain unseeded. Seedings with be done by random selection (the software will seed the games) on Saturday, July 4th, after all games are completed.
